Heading Home to Beat the Heat

We had trouble sleeping due to mosquitoes, hence the need to close the door to our cabin and getting very hot. Apart from that it was a good night, with the breeze dropping out and the anchorage becomiing calm.

We were surprised by the number of boats around in the morning, then realised that it was Sunday so all the fishermen were out.

We went ashore for a walk along the beach and were surprised to find an anchor and chain which will be ideal for the dinghy.

We were visited for a while by a colourful butterfly, which rested on our dan buoy.

It was still very hot and the forecast was for it to be a windy night, so we decided to cut short our trip one a day so we could head home to some airconditioning.

A good sea breeze filled in as we had lunch, so we had a fast sail home – apart from the wind shadow in the lee of Magnetic Island, where we motor-sailed for a while

We unloaded and washed the boat and arrived home about 7:00pm, ready for a shower and cooling aircon!

From the ship’s log:
